Susan Elizabeth "Betty" Potter, 95, died on Monday, December 25, 2017. She was born on March 5, 1922 to James Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Keys Humphrey. Her parents were stockmen in the Richmond area of Wheeler County. She attended the Wheeler County schools of Waldron, Mitchell and Fossil. Revival at the Methodist Church at Richmond and the Baptist Church in Mitchell promoted her attendance as young wife and mother to the Fossil Baptist Church, of which she was a member close to seventy years. Betty married Earl Glenn Potter on September 30, 1940. After WWII they had a mail contract for Waterman. Together they augmented incomes with boarding high school students and employment in a box factory as well as a grocery store, both located in Fossil. Betty preferred being outdoors verses toiling indoors. She liked to hunt as well as fish. She enjoyed gardening as well. Survivors include a daughter, Glenna Lange, daughter-in-law Judy; granddaughters Gena Armantrout and Dawn Lange, two great granddaughters, Amber Natzel and Heather Armantrout. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, a son, Bill, a grandson, Russel Lange, three brothers, and two sisters. Interment was held at IOOF Cemetery in Fossil.
