Peggy Jo (Hoover) Logan was born to Lee and Patsy Hoover on February 28,1960 in Heppner, OR.

She was the youngest of five children.  She passed away while working on her ranch in Wheeler County on June 8, 2025.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother-in-law Jim Humphrey, and her first born son, Joshua, who died at the age of 16 months.  She is survived by her siblings Susan Humphrey, Debra (Dan) Stubblefield, Connie Hoover, Tim Keith, and William (Cindy) Hoover.  Also, her children Benjamin (Maria), Sawyer (Alex), Jessica Schaudt (Brian), Ellie, and Emma Anteau (Trenten).   She has ten grandchildren Westley, Jade, Elijah, Garrett, Tawni, Gianna, Kimber, Callie, Gentry, and Genevieve. And her "adopted" grandchildren from Michael and Lacy Fischer.  Also, her sisters in faith Judy Fischer, Tara Holmes, and Lacy Fischer who are angels on Earth and were her partners for all kinds of shenanigans and work for God.  And countless nieces, nephews and cousins who she did her best to stay close to.

After a short time in Fossil, Peg spent most of her childhood growing up on the family ranch on Butte Creek outside of Fossil.  She relished her time being out and about on the ranch helping her dad or gallivanting around with her brother. It was there where her love and care for animals (esp. horses) began. She never learned to like chickens.  She loved being outside living life. As a youngster she was known to run everywhere. Her spirit and energy were boundless all her life.

Peg graduated from Wheeler High School where she especially excelled as an athlete (she was also a skilled musician).  She was best known as a historic basketball player leading her team to the State Championship in 1978.  Peg went on to play basketball at what is now Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID.  She had an outstanding career there and formed a lifelong bond with her coach Dr. Martha Hopkins. In 1989 she coached the coach (her husband) of the next WHS girls' basketball State Championship.  Ten years later her daughters' WHS team won another State Championship.

After graduating with a degree in PE & Health she went on to get a MA in Kinesiology from Eastern Washington University.  Peg taught middle school in Meridian, ID for a year and then came home to help her dad on the ranch. Coincidentally, she had met Bryce Logan in the gym at WHS during Christmas break basketball practice, her last year at NNU.

Peg married Bryce Logan in 1978, and they began their life together on The Prairie Ranch where they raised cattle, children and grandchildren for the rest of her life. She was an active rancher, coach, wife, mother, and grandma among many other things.  She had a love especially for horses and baby calves. Her greatest gift was her big, caring heart and her desire to share it generously.

Peg's greatest passion came to be serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She was passionate and thankful for their relationship and found peace and love from Him that she wanted to share at all times, to all people. In her later years her body was failing, but her Spirit stayed strong. She found a home and family of Believers at the Assembly of God Church in Spray, OR.

Peg looked forward to a new life free of pain and suffering in an even better place, but was determined to live life to the fullest while still here.  We are happy for her that she is free. We are going to have a feast.

A graveside service will be held at the IOOF Cemetery in Fossil, Oregon on June 20, at 11:11am.  This will be followed by a Celebration of Life service and meal at the Wheeler High School Gymnasium. Please join us as we honor her life.
