Jim Leo
Boor
September 25, 1947 – February 15, 2026
James Leo Boor, 78, of Heppner, Oregon, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on February 15, 2026.
Jim was born on September 25, 1947, in Boise, Idaho, to Earl and Opal Boor. He graduated from Arlington High School and proudly joined the United States Navy in November of 1966. Jim carried his pride in serving his country throughout his life and remained a dedicated supporter of fellow veterans as a member of the Ione American Legion.
Jim was a devoted father and family man. He welcomed two sons, Doug and David, with his first wife, Gail (Hoskins). He later married Marie (Pettyjohn), lovingly embracing her three children—Robyn, Jeff, and Kevin Ball—as his own. Together, Jim and Marie were blessed with their daughter, Dawn. His family grew to include many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
While living in Ione, Jim was deeply committed to his community. He served as a volunteer firefighter, Fire Chief, and EMT, dedicating countless hours to ensuring the safety and well-being of others. He also spent many years serving on the Ione City Council, working to strengthen and support the town he loved. Outside of his public service, Jim cherished time spent hunting and fishing with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Jim is survived by his longtime companion, Beth Lovcey; his sons Doug Boor; David (Rhonda) Boor; Kevin (Tricia) Ball; and Jeff (Armida) Ball; his daughter Dawn (Jeff) Eynetich; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; and his daughter, Robyn Gaede.
A graveside service will be held at High View Cemetery in Ione on Wednesday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow at the Ione American Legion Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s honor to the Ione American Legion or the Heppner Fire Department.
Jim will be remembered for his steadfast service, his deep love for his family, and his unwavering dedication to his community.
